Ameerega ingeri are found in Columbia. These frogs are very beautiful and are dark blue to black with fiery orange spots. They have very bumpy skin on their backs and their ventral coloration is an oceanic blue. These frogs are moderately shy to bold depending on age, and can do moderately well in groups, provided that the enclosure is large enough. It is recommended that no more than 2 go into a 10 gallon tank, 3 in a 20 gallon tank, and 4-5 in a 40 gallon tank. There can be some aggression and wrestling, but it is usually minor. Females will generally lay 10 to 20 eggs under leaf litter, on foliage, or under a coconut hut with flat leaves or a petri dish underneath. The frogs will transport tadpoles if left alone. Additional information can be found, of course, through our complimentary Encyclopedia Database: DendroKnow Project.
